Jan 4: Photos of people who have lived in three centuries
Saw this on BoingBoing:
The idea to photograph people who have lived in three centuries evolved over the course of the project. First, I was simply interested in taking portraits of people who appear worn beyond their years by living extraordinarily hard lives. Those experiences drew me to centenarians, and on to supercentenarians and their stories. It's a pretty interesting collection, both as a captured piece of history as well as photographically. He uses very hard directional light which really accentuates the texture of each subject's face. As an example, the photo to the right belongs to a "110 year 320 day-old American man of Native American, African American and Swedish descent — the 44th oldest living person in the world."From the photo page: His father stood on the platform next to President Abraham Lincoln as Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address. His father was the illegitimate son of Lincoln's Vice-President, Andrew Johnson, who became President after Lincoln's assassination. ...and from the artist's statement: The experience of talking with a 110 year-old man whose father stood next to Abraham Lincoln during the Gettysburg Address does not easily lend itself to words. A photograph seemed appropriate. Click here to view the whole collection. Jan 1: Baby feet
Maybe it's just that Cyndi and I are expecting another baby in June, but this is the cutest photo I've ever seen:
Note: if you want to comment on the photo, it's probably best to do so on its flickr page. Click the photo to get there. She's got a lot of other great baby shots, too. Dec 14: Another month, another post
Since last we met, I've started the new job. Also, I've started looking for another new job. This one isn't working out. It kind of sucks that that it isn't working out, but at least I realized it sooner rather than later.
I never got around to blogging about the second concert I had seen. It was Morrissey at Constitution Hall. It was a great show, but now it's too late to really blog. I'll just say that due to some cosmic fluke we ended up right against the stage for almost the entire concert and that I ended up with a piece of Moz's Dolce and Gabbana shirt and a drumstick. Oh yeah, I also hopped up on stage and was tackled by security. Luckily, a couple people captured it and put it on YouTube (I'm in the red shirt--about a minute into the first vid and right at the beginning of the second): Lastly, I just found this photographer on flickr who shoots a lot of photos of dogs. I'm not much of a dog person, but for some reason, I love a lot of her shots--particularly this one: Check out the rest of her stream.

Oct 29: Musings about blogging, Jason, some other junk and a t-shirt
There are sometimes that I find something interesting and consider blogging about it. But then, I remember a conversation I had with my friend Jason in which he discussed his disgust with people who post a link to something with no comment or other original content. Today, I stop feeling bad about this due to some of the recent entries on his blog (example 1, example 2).
Side note relating to example 1 above: it's great that OSX is finally getting virtual desktops (although, I dislike their calling them 'spaces'). It's one of those things that I could never go back to not having and OSX, being a UNIX and all, should really have them. OSX's lack of virtual desktops has been one of my major complaints. Now, if they would just open the source... Anyway, the real reason I started this post (and had the associated Jason-induced guilt) was to point out this great shirt in the latest batch of Threadless tees: It's called 'Best Mime Ever.' Genius! p.s. Genius is one of those words that I have to look up every time I type it because it never looks right to me. Even now, having just looked it up for the preceding paragraph, I'm fighting the urge to do so again--it just looks wrong. I think that I want it to have an o somewhere. another p.s. I posted an entry with some photos from a recent wedding over on my biz blog. Oct 8: Bloggin' for the biz
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've launched a blog for my photo biz. I'll be posting shots from weddings and portrait sessions there, so if you want to see that stuff, check it out.
