Excellent. I'm getting a bit disenchanted with Tivo for a lot of different reasons, so this definately appeals to me. Although I'm not crazy about the idea of running a PC in the entertainment center, and getting my wife used to the Tivo took so long that I can't imagine having to "retrain" her.
Rrrob: from what I understand, mythTV works a lot like a Tivo, so it may not be too bad to retrain. Once I get mine up and running you can come over and check it out.
As far as running a PC in the entertainment center, that's one of my big issues with it, too. It has the capability of splitting the front-end and the back-end onto separate machines. So, you could (and many have done) put the front-end on a low-spec ultra-quiet machine and have the monster that does all the processing and storage in a closet. I think that's the direction I'm leaning towards.
I would definitely recommend the split set up. This guy I know has his file server tucked away in an used area and it's so nice not to have to hear the hum of another machine, etc.

ok, I added the search sidebar plugin. I originally took it out since it added clutter to the sidebar. It only seems to search the entries, though, not the comments.

Here's a status report on my MythTV box. As you may remember, I switched my main desktop from a PC running Debian GNU/Linux to a Mac G4--also running Debian, of course. As I posted earlier, I did this so that I could use the PC as my MythTV backend ma
