Sorry for not posting for a while; it's been busy.
First up: the house situation. Due to how our contract on the new house is worded (boilerplate stuff), we had to have a home inspection done on it within ten days of it being accepted. So, yesterday, we had one done. It was good to get back in and spend a good while looking around and thinking about how we'd layout the furniture and who gets what room, etc. As far as the inspection is concerned, almost everything is in pretty good shape. The furnace and water heater (both gas burning) need to be cleaned and serviced, and there are a few little things like it needing new caulk where the siding meets the chimney, but nothing major. So, we're asking them to have the furnace and water heater cleaned and serviced and I'll take care of the little things if/when we buy the house. I'll let you know what they say when they get back to us.
The only complaints we've ever received from realtors looking at out house was that there's too many stairs out front and that the girls' room was painted purple. Obviously, there's not much we can do about the stairs, but we finally broke down and painted it last weekend. It's now generic off-white.
Another realtor told our realtor that they'd be bringing someone to see the house this weekend, and that they thought that the client would be really interested. I'm beyond getting my hopes up, but at least we're getting some traffic.
Last note about the house situation. The neighbors received an offer on their house. It was on the market for five days. We're not friends anymore.*
Second: walking at work. I'm still doing it, but a lot of meetings and other work goings-on this past week and a half has made it difficult to spend much time walking. I'm lucky if I've been able to squeeze in three or four miles. But, I am still walking the whole time I'm actually at my desk. Yesterday, I got in five or six, so some days as better than others.
Third: business travel. We've got a new content management system at work that I'm going to be trained on. The training is next week in New York City, so next week I'll be in NYC. The training is in lower Manhattan while my hotel (the
Hudson Hotel)is in midtown, a block south of Central Park. While I'll admit I'm not too excited about the training itself (9:30 to 5, Monday through Friday), I am pretty excited about being in NYC and doing a lot of photography. My plan is to take the subway in the mornings and then walk the five miles back to the hotel afterwards. That way, I'll still get in my walking, and will see (and photograph) a ton of lower Manhattan. I plan to take a different route each day and just stop at a restaurant along the way for dinner. I ever get tired or whatever, I can just hop on the subway.
I've set my blog up so that I can post by sending an email to it. I may use my phone to post entries while I'm in NYC, so if there's more typos than usual, that's why. I'm also taking my Libretto (VHS cassette-sized laptop), so I may be able to use that sometimes, depending on internet access.
* Just kidding about not being friends with our neighbors anymore; we're just mad with jealousy.
