Oct 31: Very disturbing...
Reoriginalize, a blog I read, has a funny post about nose hair removal:
A New World Of Pain Now I understand why they make a million and a half trimmers for these things; today I plucked my nose hair. Not all of it, it goes up there forever I suspect, but almost all the ones near the front that would make appearances from time to time. The disturbing part comes in the comments section: The trick is to get your slick MachIII razor stick it in your nose at an angle and use a circular forward out and down sweeping motion all the while making sure to go with the grain of the nose-hair. 1,000,000 nose-hairs removed and counting. Yeeoouuuuchhh! See? Disturbing. For the record, I use one of those MicroTouch trimmers from TV. Works like a charm for all sorts of unsightly hair. Update: I changed the title from "Rather Disturbing" to "Very Disturbing". Oct 28: Patrick Fitzgerald made this guy bald
Pretty funny post over on battlepanda:
Patrick Fitzgerald made me bald Don't worry, Gene. Bald is sophisticated. At least, that's what us naturally bald guys who shave our heads tell ourselves so that we can sleep at night. Oct 27: Bizarro Bush
Linked from Think Progress:
BUSH VIDEO: “We Must Always Ask Ourselves Not Only What Is Legal, But What Is Right” Let me say a few words about important values we must demonstrate while all of us serve in government. First, we must always maintain the highest ethical standards. We must always ask ourselves not only what is legal, but what is right. There is no goal of government worth accomplishing if it cannot be accomplished with integrity. Uh, wha wha WHAT?!?! Holy crap! This is like the pot calling the kettle greener on the other side of the apple orange ack pthpthptthhhtpt. This is so absurd coming from him. He, the king of lies, the king of deception, the king of twisting the law to fit his every whim, the king of ignoring those who disagree with him; he's lecturing others on ethics and humility? He doesn't even bother to make sure what he wants to do is legal, much less 'right'. Holy crap, this is so rediculous. I can't even think straight. I think reading that made something important in my brain die. Update 10/28: I just noticed that this is from a speach from 2001. So, this isn't so much him saying "Do as I say, not as I do" as much as "I think this is good advice, but I'm going to go ahead and ignore it." Oct 26: Driving more efficiently
I found this link while reading someone's site a while ago, and have been meaning to post here ever since:
Driving More Efficiently It gives several tips on how to save money on gas, a little explanation for each, and a savings estimate for a couple of them. Here's the first tip as an example: Drive Sensibly Other tips include observing the speed limit and avoiding excessive idling. I thought this was pretty interesting. I'd heard most of the suggestions before, but without the savings estimates it's hard to judge whether it's worth changing my driving habits.
