Good catch. What gets me is that so much effort is put forward by the admin to claim this to be a temporary program, that once we are safe again, then the will no longer be a need to spy on us.
But this doesn't stand to reason. Out of the other side of their mouth the admin tells us this is unlike any enemy we've ever faced—no contained nation, there will be no formal surrender, so no end. So what is said to be temporary is actually permenant. And if we are spying on US citizen for our own good, then why stop there? Surely we'd be even safer if we get rid of many more of our freedoms.
Yeah, good point, zen. It's just until we defeat this enemy for which there is no logical definition of defeat. Then, we'll give back the freedom.
